Quote: Genghis Khan

We may not always like to admit it, but human beings are a bloodthirsty lot. I know of no better illustration of this than the following quotation from Genghis Khan, the great Mongol conqueror. The story goes that Khan and some fellows were debating the question 'What is life's sweetest pleasure' when one man said it must surely be falconry. Genghis Khan is said to have replied:
You are mistaken. Man's greatest good fortune is to chase and defeat his enemy, seize his total possessions, leave his married women weeping and wailing, ride his gelding, and use the bodies of his women as a nightshirt.

  4. #Michael Meadon. what is a good man? what is a bad man?

    I don't know what u been reading? and i don't how u got educated...
Have u ever read about Genghis Khan? When he was 13 he had nothing. (Not even 1 soldier)...But after 60 years later his empire covered over 33,000,000 km2 (12,741,000 sq mi), 22% of the Earth's total land area. It held sway over a population of over 100 million people. it means he brought peace to 100.000.000 people (No Wars, No Fights over 100's years And also don't forget This achievement allowed the free exchange of ideas and new inventions between Asia and Europe. )... YES!!!! HE WAS A GREAT KING, A GREAT LEADER, A GREAT MAN... That's why in the U.S.A, Times magazine voted him "Man of the Millennium"

JUST THINK!!!.. If u been born in instead of him in 13th Century, Could YOU DO THAT? LOL .. IF YOU Could have done it. IT'S NOT TOO LATE. THERE IS EVERYDAY 100'S INNOCENT PEOPLE DYING IN the MIDDLE EAST. WHY DON'T YOU STOP IT? OR U DON'T WANT TO?

The last thing to say is, DON'T JUDGE PPL BEFORE U KNOW THEM. :)

  5. Hi Chingis, I'm not seeing how anyone can dispute that Khan was bloodthirsty... You're going to have to give me more evidence that caps-locked ramblings.

  8. Sure you could pursue accusations that "no-one can dispute that Khan was bloodthirsty" but in doing that you just gloss over his morality, and as Chingis said .. who we was and who stood for. The position from which you view your reality will change your perception of its nature. i.e. A means to an outcome or an outcome as a means.

By the way i have just seen Mongol (2007), and although movies may fall short historically ... its the best insight we can ever gain into the personality of these historical figures. Apart from that the cinematography was beautiful.

  9. hey evry1, i just want to clear a few things up :P.
Yes, Genghis Khan was Bloodthirsty but he done it for a reason. as he believed he goal in life was to conquer the world.
and he nearly did with his nation of warriors from mongolia and the places he captured such as the chin empires.

Oh and by the way chingis, you couldnt build a nation even if you tried as the world has changed a hell of alot since the 13th century. we use guns not bows or swords. so please stop arguin about the life of Genghis Khan, Just research him, there are plenty of websites telling you about his life! and even alot of books! not just biographys but story books. hope this cleared a few things up, if not.... do your research!

  11. this quote comes in various forms , its origin is unknown... possible that europeans of the time made this up (no offense). and btw ghengis khan was far from bloodthirsty and sexist! mongolia (wasn't actually called that...) had more equality to women than most the world. also ghengis khan spared people all the time! a man who shot him with an arrow became one of his generals!

    do some research people...
