The greatest short story writer of all time, without a shadow of a doubt, is
Jorge Luis Borges and his best short story, in my opinion at least, is "
The Library of Babel". There is no way I can do the story justice in summary so just trust me on this,
download the mp3 and have a listen. It's absolutely sublime.
And if you're keen to explore the philosophical implications of Borges' library, pick up a copy of Daniel Dennett's (magisterial)
Darwin's Dangerous Idea.
